Last night my family and I took part in the Taste of Cambridge 2009 that was held at the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square. This annual event showcases many Cambridge restaurants and their flavorful offerings. Originally I was going to go with my husband so I could both cover the event and have a night out but my babysitting fell through. Luckily this year the event added Kids/Childrens tickets so I was able to bring both my 6 and 8 year old.
What’s great about this event is that not only do you get to eat dishes from a variety of Cambridge Restaurants but also get to contribute to worthy causes. This year the Taste of Cambridge benefited Club Passim’s Culture for Kids/Music Speaks and Youth on Fire.
Based on the list in the brochure there were approximately 60 restaurants there. The move to The Charles Hotel seemed to go well. The event is pretty popular and was packed. The food was great. The veggie burger from Tory Row stood out for me as well as the wings from the Bukowski Tavern. My one complaint is that unless you are drinking alcohol you don’t get much to drink. They give out the non-alcoholic drinks in mini cups. Yesterday was a hot day for a change so my kids kept asking me for something to drink.
I actually took some video of the event I will eventually post. What I didn’t realize at the time was that Michael Jackson music was playing in the background. At the time I had not heard the news of his passing away.
The tragedy of these Taste of Events is that you can’t taste everything. Cambridge offers so many different types of cuisine I highly recommend this event.

I posted the video with Michael Jackson playing in the background. I plan to add more from the Taste of Cambridge 2009 event. You can find the video and future videos on the page.
