Monster is opening a new technology center here in Cambridge in the Kendall Square area.  According to a press release issued today.

Cambridge is a logical location for us to grow, with its world class talent and leading edge research and development infrastructure,” said Darko Dejanovic, executive vice president, global CIO and head of product at Monster.  Our Cambridge center complements our existing innovation investments, and we expect additional game-changing product offerings to emerge from this group in collaboration with our global technology team.

Monster follows other companies like EMC, Google and Microsoft that continue to place a high value on the innovation and brain power in the Cambridge Area.

Monster also announced that it is recruiting for 80 positions in the Cambridge for the Technology Center for Excellence and Innovation with a possible expansion to 170 positions some time in the future.

This is great news for Cambridge since it was recently announced that Harvard was going to be laying off 275 employees.

Monster also announced some restructuring that will unfortunately result in job losses in other locations like their Maynard offices.
